GOP, TO MOTIVATE THE BASE, CAMPAIGNS WITH BORAT

(Kazakhstan Meets KuKluxKlanistan)
By Don Davis

In light of the polls showing the loss of at least the House of Representatives in tomorrow’s midterms, the GOP has decided to throw the ultimate “Hail Mary” — a last minute campaign blitz with Borat.

As RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman put it, “who better than Borat to appeal to all of the red-meat issues that rile up our base: hatred of Jews, hatred of gays, hatred of women, and hatred of the Enlightenment.”

“And the fact that he’s been married to his half-sister,” Mehlman added, “is bound to solidify our hold in the South.”

Preliminary reports are that many GOP candidates who fled from campaign appearances with Bush are now falling all over themselves to appear with Borat. Although these candidates are fully aware that Borat’s routine is a joke, their nearly uniform response has been “Who cares, so is Bush’s.”

“Besides,” said one Republican incumbent who was desperately trying to hang onto his seat, “Borat’s syntax and diction are a lot better than Bush’s, and he makes a lot more sense.”

The Bush Administration sees a great upside to developing a political alliance with Borat, since they feel that he can also woo independents, given the fact that he’s not quite as offensive as Rush Limbaugh.

For his part, Borat plans to devote his next movie to the GOP, to be entitled Vultural Earnings of Fatcats For Make Benefit Glorious Nation Halliburtonstan.

ps Borat is the funniest movie I have ever seen. I laughed so hard I almost threw up. Others may throw up for other reasons.

To give you an idea of how big this guy and this movie is going to be. From wiki:

"The film opened at number one in the U.S., taking in $26.4 million on a limited release of 880 screens during its first weekend, beating out Fahrenheit 9/11 as the biggest opening weekend for a film released in under 1,000 theaters."

He just signed a $42.5 million deal for his next movie where he will be a "gay Austrian fashionista Bruno."

Number one and no one is even close:

'Borat' banks $29M, keeps top movie spot

LOS ANGELES - A make-believe son of the glorious nation of Kazakhstan continues to rule the American box office.

Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" took in $29 million to remain the No. 1 movie for a second straight weekend, distributor 20th Century Fox said Sunday. "Borat" raised its 10-day total to $67.8 million.

The top three movies remained unchanged from the previous weekend, with Disney's "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause" still in second place with $16.9 million and the Paramount-DreamWorks animated tale "Flushed Away" in third with $16.7 million.

...

Crudely funny and raucously satiric, "Borat" was a surprise winner at the box office with a $26.5 million opening weekend, even though it played in only 837 theaters, fewer than one-fourth the number of cinemas for "The Santa Clause 3" and "Flushed Away."

...Snyder said the buzz from the movie's huge debut proved a great prelude to wider release in its second weekend, when it expanded to 2,566 theaters.

"When a picture takes off like this, you can do it any way you want and you can't screw it up, quite honestly, when a picture becomes a part of the culture like this," Snyder said.
