Not So Bright

Post by Doug »

A extreme right-wing fellow named Don Bright keeps spamming me with his absurd, ill-informed, and sometimes overtly racist anti-Obama e-mails.

I responded to them at first, patiently going through them and showing him where he is factually or logically in error. Then he informed me that he was filtering out my responses, but he kept sending me these e-mails. I don't want to just filter his e-mails, or he will think he is getting the better of me, since he will conclude that I cannot respond. I asked him repeatedly to stop sending me e-mails. I even tried calling him names. To no avail.

So I decided to start posting his stuff here, where our illustrious group can laugh at his antics as well as pick apart his absurdities at their leisure. It may also be interesting, if not amusing, to see what the rank-and-file extreme right-wing actually believe.

Here is Don Bright's latest. From 5/17/2013:
Whew! Been a couple of bad weeks for that boy in the oval office. Benghazigate cover-up and lies, complete corruption from oval office down in IRS, oval office intimidation and trampling of 1st Amendment freedom of speech and press, Dept. of Human Service begging for bribes from businesses it regulates from Sebelious buddy of Obama, Napalitano letting multiconvicted felons loose in streets and loosing track of Obama terrorist friends....

This Obama kid is taking the place of"peanuts" Carter as most inept president ever, replacing Clinton as biggest liar ever to hold office of president has replaced Hillary in the elitist snobbery class and makes Nixon look like the epitome of real class. Barack must not be following his Muslim tenants...got allah pissed off at him apparently.

You democratic cultists sure know how to pick 'em.

Here's one Don Bright sent me on March 10th, with the subject line "Fwd: Fw: A little weekend humor...":
On January 2nd of this year Davy Jones, lead singer for the 60’s pop group the Monkeys passed away.

The following morning headlines in the Washington Post read LEAD MONKEY DEAD.

It took the secret service several hours to get Joe Biden to calm down and stop running around the White House yelling, “I’m the President!”

Poor Don. He's always been a right-wing incoherent nut but this eight years of Obama has made him completely lose his mind. Pitiful.

Don used to spam/troll me (as he does with many others, via email, without their permission) but then he stopped because I didn't feed him. I've invited him to post his junk here many times, but he's also a coward.

Here's a completely idiotic letter Don NotsoBright wrote on climate change, which I roasted on this forum by in 2007.

RE "Barack must not be following his Muslim tenants..."
I didn't know that Obama owned rental property. Of course, he would not be able to discriminate against tenants on the basis of their religion, thanks to Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968. Damned liberal government.

The messages from Bright read like one of the worst (best) examples of the written form of the Gish gallop that I've read recently. Bright tosses out a bunch of wild, unsupported (and unsupportable) assertations all rapid fire, giving one scant reason to believe he either knows or cares what are the actual facts; choosing to engage him in discussion seems to me like a willful purchase of a ticket to ride the crazy train.

Here is the latest from Don Bright. A picture that shows us that Don is SO CLUELESS that:

A) He seems unaware that Obama TAUGHT CONSTITUTIONAL LAW at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992-2004. So of course Obama has read the constitution.

B) Obama can speak and read just fine without a teleprompter. In fact, when Obama addressed House Republicans in March of 2010, he answered their questions, rebutted their arguments, and in general kicked their butts--all without a teleprompter. He whipped them so badly Fox News cut away 20 minutes before the event was done! Ha!

More Don Bright nonsense, this time about guns.

He sent me a link to a video of a woman so stupid she thinks the gun debate is about whether Americans are going to be allowed to own guns.
Subject: This lady is right on.

Nora Craig
Local Coordinator, Franklinville Tea Party
Franklin Township, NJ

Nora Craig is a retired Information Technology executive with 25 years experience in various industry settings.

She has been published in security management strategy guides and served on IBM strategic advisory councils, and local government planning and environmental boards. In 2005, she organized a Katrina Aid drive and received a congressional citation for her work. She has served on several boards of directors of non-profit organizations.

GS

The state Senate Law and Public Safety Committee has approved seven new gun control measures and there was fierce opposition from gun rights advocates who packed the hearings. Gun rights advocate, Nora Craig, says she is only afraid of one thing.....http://video-embed.nj.com/services/play ... 1389953001
This woman accuses Obama of violating his oath of office by entertaining the idea of placing restrictions on gun ownership.

Hilarious!

Back when "teleprompter dependence" was a more common talking point, I'd bring this up every time. Without fail, the other side would not know what I was talking about.

And nobody even accused him of using an earpiece.

It's difficult to reason with the irrational - Obama is quite a competent attorney and all good attorneys can think, and talk, on their feet – one doesn’t graduate law school if he or she cannot do so. Usually attorneys do so in technical legal jargon and not with soaring eloquence, but their points cut all the same to those who are mentally equipped to follow the conversation. Obama also has a well-demonstrated ability to debate effectively, on national TV, which likewise requires the ability to recall vast amounts of information on the fly and to put together well-reasoned, cogent arguments without the benefit of an outside advisor – a political and legal skill that many well-known Republicans visibly fail to perform competently. The "Obama needs a teleprompter" canard is a dog whistle appeal to racism, nothing more: what they really mean to say is that the black guy only sounds intelligent because some advisor is feeding him the info behind the scenes as he gesticulates on the TV screen like a Muppet – never mind it isn’t actually true. The same sort of folks also say, without a trace of irony, that Sarah Palin had (and still has) the better resume on paper than Barack Obama, as if being a small market sports broadcaster were the same as being a lecturer at the U of Chicago School of Law, or that a BA in an easy major from a long series of easy schools is the same as graduating magna from Harvard school of law, or that being a small town mayor and a <2 year governor from a small state were the same as nearly a decade of experience in state and the federal Senate. Unfortunately, when beliefs are not based on facts it's very difficult to persuade with facts.

The essential problem is that arguments of this type come from a teapublican crowd who are highly populist - they have contempt for intellectuals of all sorts, even the few who are on their own side. When the intellectual in question happens to be black, they elevate it to a whole new level, that of the fake intellectual who knows even less that the supposed know nothings. They cast themselves in the role of the salt-of-the-Earth, common sense, real American who are clever enough to know that education makes supposedly intelligent people stupid. It's futile to reason with such a proudly ignorant mindset; it's best to point out in some psuedo-folksy, common sense sort of way that they're dumber than a box of hammers and leave it at that.

Got this from Don Bright today.
Doug

A friend of yours (who told me to keep his name out of it) recently wrote me and told me you have been posting my information on your website. I was surprised to hear that and now must assume that you may not be as single and simple minded as I thought.

Anyway, thanks for helping me get the truth out ! Very nice of you.

Don
Of course, I had warned him several times that I would be posting his e-mails here, and I had already sent him a link to this thread multiple times after I started posting the e-mails.

So this may be confirmation that Mr. Bright really is too scared to read responses to his stupid, racist trash and he has filtered my e-mails to him.

What a chicken.

The latest bigotry--and erroneous nonsense--from Don Bright.
CAN MUSLIMS BE GOOD AMERICANS?????

This is very interesting and we all need to read it from start to finish. And send it on to everyone. Maybe this is why our American Muslims are so quiet and not speaking out about any atrocities.

Can a good Muslim be a good American?

This question was forwarded to a friend who worked in Saudi Arabia for 20 years. The following is his reply:

Theologically - no. Because his allegiance is to Allah, The moon god of Arabia .

Religiously - no. Because no other religion is accepted by His Allah except Islam. (Quran,2:256)(Koran)

Scripturally - no. Because his allegiance is to the five Pillars of Islam and the Quran.

Geographically - no. Because his allegiance is to Mecca , to which he turns in prayer five times a day.

Socially - no. Because his allegiance to Islam forbids him to make friends with Christians or Jews.

Politically - no. Because he must submit to the mullahs (spiritual leaders), who teach annihilation of Israel and destruction of America , the great Satan.

Domestically - no. Because he is instructed to marry four Women and beat and scourge his wife when she disobeys him. (Quran 4:34)

Intellectually - no. Because he cannot accept the American Constitution since it is based on Biblical principles and he believes the Bible to be corrupt.

Philosophically - no. Because Islam, Muhammad, and the Quran does not allow freedom of religion and expression. Democracy and Islam cannot co-exist. Every Muslim government is either dictatorial or autocratic.

Spiritually - no. Because when we declare 'one nation under God,' The Christian's God is loving and kind, while Allah is NEVER referred to as Heavenly father, nor is he ever called love in the Quran's 99 excellent names.

Therefore, after much study and deliberation... Perhaps we should be very suspicious of ALL MUSLIMS in this country. They obviously cannot be both 'good' Muslims and 'good' Americans. Call it what you wish it's still the truth. You had better believe it. The more who understand this, the better it will be for our country and our future.

The religious war is bigger than we know or understand!

Footnote: The Muslims have said they will destroy us from within. SO FREEDOM IS NOT FREE.

THE MARINES WANT THIS TO ROLL ALL OVER THE U.S.

Please don't delete this until you send it on.

'IN GOD WE TRUST'

Robert Collingswood, US Navy (ret.)
This is so stupid it's funny. Feel free to pick at it. I'll give it a solid roast this weekend, or perhaps early next week.

You can find kindling for the roast here.

The latest EASILY DEBUNKED nonsense from Mr. Bright.
Subject: FW: Age 76 - A MUST READ

It’s not a Healthcare bill, it’s a Marxist manifesto.

PLEASE PASS THIS OUTRAGE TO EVERY ONE ON YOUR LIST!!! THIS should be read by everyone, especially important to those over 75.......If you are younger, then it applies to your parents ..............

Your hospital Medicare admittance has just changed under Obama Care. You must be admitted by your primary Physician in order for Medicare to pay for it! If you are admitted by an emergency room doctor it is treated as outpatient care where hospital costs are not covered. This is only the tip of the iceberg for Obama Care. Just wait to see what happens in 2013 & 2014!

Age 76 Today, I went to the Dr. For my monthly B12 shot that I have been getting for a number of years. The nurse came and got me, got out the needle filled and ready to go then looked at the computer and got very quiet and asked if I was prepared to pay for it. I said no that my insurance takes care of it.

She said, that Medicare had turned it down and went to talk to my Dr. About it. 15 minutes later she came back and said, she was sorry but they had tried every-thing they could but Medicare is beginning to turn many things away for seniors because of the projected Obama Care coming in. She was brushing at tears and said, "Some day they too will get old, I am so very sorry!!"

Please for the sake of many good people. . . ..be informed please.

YOU ARE NOT GOING TO LIKE THIS...

At age 76 when you most need it, you are not eligible for cancer treatment

A summary of why this is nonsense, from false authorship to citing a bill that was NEVER PASSED, is at Snopes.com here.

Line-by-line debunks can be found easily. Of course, Mr. Bright couldn't take the sixty seconds to do so.

See here at Factcheck.org: "We examined each of the e-mail’s claims, finding 26 of them to be false and 18 to be misleading, only partly true or half true. Only four are accurate."

And also here at PolitiFact.com: "Most of what the e-mail says is wrong. In fact, it's a clearinghouse of bad information circulating around the Web about proposed health care changes..."

It is clear what kind of deceit and intellectual laziness is hampering the progress of our country...

Bright must be bored because he's sending me lots of laughs these days.

Mr. Bright often rants about the evils of socialism. After one post bitching about how his Medicare might not pay for a procedure he needs, I responded:

DOUG writes:
Medicare? Glad to hear you're a socialist!

And don't expect anyone to believe that you know what is going on with your Medicare. You have proved in the past that you are ALWAYS clueless, so don't expect anyone to believe you now, Boy Who Cried Wolf.
Mr. Bright responded:
I'ved always said (even on the radio program several times) that if you people are going to be stupid enough to pay for my medical care, I'm surely going to be smart enough to take clear advantage of your stupidity! You must be a little fellow because it's obvious that you suffer from little man's disease.
I let him know that he is a hypocrite. I have no idea what he is talking about with "little man's disease."

The latest EASILY DEBUNKED nonsense from Don Bright <brightremarks@att.net>. He wrote:
TARGET STORES ARE NOT YET IN CANADA , HOWEVER THEY ARE SLATED TO OPEN A LOT OF STORES IN MARCH OR APRIL OF 2013. APPARENTLY THEY WILL BE TAKING OVER THE ZELLERS STORES. TARGET IS LOOKING FOR NEW AREAS AS THEY ARE GETTING A VERY BAD RECEPTION IN THE STATES MAINLY DUE TO THEIR NON-CHRISTIAN ATTITUDES. TARGET STORES HEAD OFFICE IS IN FRANCE . THE OFFICE IS NOW MUSLIM CONTROLLED WHICH EXPLAINS THE NON-CHRISTIAN ATTITUDE. WE SUPPORT THE GIANT TIGER, CANADIAN TIRE, HOME HARDWARE, ETC. THOSE WHICH ARE CANADIAN OWNED AND OPERATED.

Target Stores What a surprise!

Wasn't it last Christmas that Target refused to let the Salvation Army ring their bells in front of their stores?

Dick Forrey of the Vietnam Veterans Association wrote. 'Recently we asked the local TARGET store to be a proud Sponsor of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial all during our Spring recognition event. Remember there are Canadians occupying space on these walls. We received the following reply from the local TARGET management:

Veterans do not meet our Area of giving. We only donate to the arts, social action Groups, gay & lesbian causes, and education.' So I'm thinking, if the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and Veterans in general, do not meet their donation criteria, then something is really wrong at this TARGET store.

We were not asking for thousands of dollars, not even hundreds, just a small sponsorship for a memorial remembrance.

As a follow-up, I E-mailed the TARGET U.S. Corporate Headquarters and their response was the same...

That's their National policy!!!

Then I looked into the company further.. They will not allow

The Marines to collect for 'Toys for Tots' at any of their Stores. And during the recent Iraq deployment, they would not allow families of employees who were called up for Active duty to continue their insurance coverage while they were on military service..

Now, I'm thinking again.. If TARGET cannot support American (or Canadian) Veterans, then why should my family and I support their Stores by spending our hard earned American or Canadian dollars in their stores???

And, Have their profits sent to France to Support Muslim Organizations.

Sincerely,

Dick Forrey

Veterans Helping Veterans

Please send this on to everyone you know, to let Target know We don't need them either, we're all in a position to reduce sales to these stores as soon as this gets around....SO THERE IS POWER IN THE PEN AND THE COMPUTER EMAILS!! NOW THESE PEOPLE ARE INTRODUCING THEMSELVES TO CANADA
Snpoes.com roasts this nonsense here.

The only true part seems to be that Target does not allow charities to collect donations on Target premises, so Salvation Army bell ringers are not permitted, but Target gives to veteran's organizations as well as Toys for Tots.

Also, they are headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, not France.

Finding material debunking this crap took less than 30 seconds. But Mr. Bright can't manage it...

Re: Not So Bright

Now Don Bright is sending me anti-global warming propaganda.

His latest:
Welcome. I will try to give you the answer to the question "is there global cooling?" As you are well aware there is a huge effort around the globe to counter the alleged impact of mankind on the world's climate. If in fact mankind will cause the seas to rise appreciably by causing CO2 induced global warming then certainly let's do something about it. But, what if global warming is not what they say it is? What if the world's temperature is headed in the opposite direction? Global temperatures increased for twenty years from the late 1970s to the late 1990s but have either stopped warming or have begun to cool in the last fifteen years. The global warming and subsequent cooling were even predictable due to hundreds of years of historical trends and observation of the impact of variations in solar activity on global temperature.

Did you know that in the past the Roman Period and Medieval Period were both several degrees warmer than today's temperature. The world then cooled at least four degrees from approx. 1450 to 1850. This period was called the Little Ice Age (a period of glacial advance, the same glaciers that have been in retreat until recently). These temperature variations were not caused by man. They were caused entirely by natural forces.

I thanked him for helping out the Democratic Party. As usual, the harder he works, the more stupid he makes the Republican/Tea Party look.

Now the Not-So-Bright One sends this:

So this guy who can't even spell "ostriches" in his native language know more about climate science than 97+% of climate scientists.

This is pretty funny.

I guess Don Bright is on a tear about global cooling these days.
On Jan. 7, 2006, Al Gore predicted the earth would burn to a crisp in 10 years. I just checked the Al Gore "Doomsday Clock" and there are only 2 years,213 days, 8 hours and about 50 minutes left as I write this.

Man, we've got to do something to stop the global cooling trend we're in quick or Al's going to be wrong AGAIN!

Poor Al. Oh...forgot he's rich now with his new job helping the Muslim's massacre children and enslave women.
Bright is so dull and silly he probably really believes that Al Gore "the earth would burn to a crisp in 10 years." Really.

In my opinion, there's a very fast way to show people who might be listening to him that he's wrong, and I expect that it would be effective:

Number of consecutive months of above average global temperatures: 339 (340 now?)

That means it's been almost thirty years since we had a time period of only one month at or below average temperature.

I guess the average here is average for the 20th century?
